Now if you are just starting out on your wave journey, you may still have some questions, like how do you tie a durag? There are many ways that a durag can be fastened, ranging from the basic to more complex styles like the durag bun or 360 curves durag tie. In this blog, Veeta is going to give you the basics to tying a durag in 5 simple and easy steps. Lets get started!
The 5 Basic Steps to Tying a Durag
Step 1: Start by taking the durag in both hands and adjusting the seam so that it aligns with the middle of your forehead.

Step 2: Pull the straps on each side behind your head and cross them in the back, holding the straps in opposite hands from the side they would naturally dangle. Pull them tight enough to fit snuggly, but not too tight.

Step 3: Take the first strap from behind your head and wrap it around to the front of your head, across your forehead. Continue to wrap the first strap around to the back of your head again. Then you will want to hold it in your mouth to keep it in place while doing the same thing with the other strap.

Step 4: Take the first strap out of your mouth with one hand while holding the second strap in your other hand, then tie the straps securely at the back of the head. Aim to tie it around the base of your skull. Make sure your tie the straps securely but not too tight because you want it to be comfortable and you do not want to cut off your circulation.

Step 5: Lightly tug at the bottom of the durag to straighten out any wrinkles in the fabric that covers your head. It should fit snug, the material should look smooth, and your waves should be protected and preserved underneath your durag.
